Importance of class rank in admissions?

How important would you say class rank is for admission to Cornell? There’s an older thread about this same topic, but I really couldn’t get any information from it.
I applied for biometry and stats in CALS and my composite ACT score is in the 75 percentile and so is my SAT score. I also scored well on the Biology and Math Level 2 subject tests. I also feel like my extracurriculars involve things related to the major.
However, my class rank is in the top 12%, as I just missed by the top ten percent by 10 people. I should point out that the 3 B’s I got were in freshman year (2) and sophmore year(1). Including this year, I’ve taken 10 APs.
I know they look at fit for CALS, but I was wondering how important class rank would be, especially considering I’m an Indian female?
I also feel like my essays showed interest for CALS and I talked about my passion for computational biology.

My second question:

I didn’t submit my AP scores, so would that affect the decision?

For Cornell, having a class rank or not is not an issue. My D school eliminated class rank a few years ago. Kids from her scholl continue to get accepted there. There are several other schools near us that get rid of a class rank.

Re. AP scores. If they ask for it, thrn you should. Re. their requirement.

Cornell seems to care about fit more than just high GPA or test score. Not just CALS, any of their schoools. In my D year, almost every kid with higher GPA than her applied there and were not accepted. My kid and the other two were not the very top academically but they had what Cornell liked and wanted.

@rphcfb Thank you so much for your response! So you’re just saying fit is more important and that my rank won’t completely tank my chances.

If you google Cornell common data set, you will see that Cornell gives course rigor, GPA, SAT, essay, recommendations a higher priority than a class rank.

Thus, you will need to do well in those “very important” categories. It is a holistic approach.
