Hi,

I am very interested in Northwestern U. and it is one of the four schools that I am applying to transfer (others are UPenn, UChicago, and NYU). I don’t really know too much about NU’s personality and what they look for in a student…how important are essays/recs or gpa/sat, etc. I am applying from Baruch College (it was my last choice) and I have a gpa of 3.5. I’m not too sure about my HS GPA but I think it was like
9-11th Grade= 2.09, 2.57, 3.15
12th Grade (new school)= 90-ish.

I retook the SATs in order to improve my chances and raised them from a 1320 (720 M, 600 V) to a 2220,
CR: 800
M: 720
W: 700

I’d say my rec/essay/ec’s are all pretty good (but I guess thats normal, I doubt any teachers would bash a student)

While I’d appreciate anyone evaluating my chances, my main question is about what NU likes to emphasize during admission. I know that they look at everything, but for example, UChicago cares a lot more about essays than most other schools do, and you can get in with a comparatively low GPA/SAT score while those with amazing grades can often be deferred or even rejected. NYU seems to care a lot more on statistical information (GPA/SAT) and they are rather impersonal as a school. Thanks for your time.

Btw, I will be majoring in economics.
