Importance of different application components in admission to Princeton

Can someone rank the different application components according to their importance in the selection process for Princeton?

I am applying SCEA to Princeton this fall.

Thanks

The application review begins with an academic(gpa, class rank, and test scores)ranking and an EC rating. So those factors comprise the heart of your application, then the rest of the elements put your ratings into perspective during the holistic review.

Princeton ranked the components itself in the Common Data Set. Look it up (just type “Princeton University Common Data Set” into your search engine.) Each component is rated “very important,” “important,” “considered,”or “not considered.”

Beyond Princeton’s own word, any poster is just speculating.

And of course, it will vary somewhat by applicant. A highly ranked national tennis player’s talent and extracurriculars will matter more to that applicant’s chances than a typical high school tennis player’s will to her. Write an essay that just happens to grab the person(s) reading your application, and it may make more of a difference for you than another applicant’s may for him.

Thanks for the information. In the common data set, Princeton University mentions that Application Essay is Very Important. As Princeton wants an additional essay with the common app one, does the “Application Essay” criterion include both the essays?

One should assume it would.

And a 3rd essay if you apply BSE…

When looking at the CDS, remember that any one factor that isn’t strong can bring down your chances. That’s holistic. With the volume of top applicants, every part needs to be well done.
