importance of essay content

I wrote my essay tonight, and being that i haven’t traveled at all in my life (haven’t left the state in over 6 years) and my life is the typical suburban american life, i did not have much to write about.

Is the content really that important or is it moreso your writing skills?
I don’t want to worry about this too much.

I thought the EXACT same thing when I opened the packet containing part II this afternoon.
I’m a white, middle class, public school-attending, suburban-dwelling kid. I don’t have a lot to contribute to diversity.
Ugh.

Perhaps you don’t think you can contribute to diversity in the normal sense, but what about diversity of opinion? Surely you have ways of expressing yourself that differ from other students. Race, class, and location have little to do with it. I came from exactly the same background, and I’m at Rice right now, so there must be some way for you to shine through.
