Hey, I was curious how important is it? I was born in Russia, lived there for 12 years, after that moved to Czech Republic. I speak Russian at home. Basically, I can speak and write in English, Russian, Czech(those 3 on level of mother tongue), spanish(quite solid), armenian(intermediate), mandarin(intermediate). I am still junior. Can this be seen as major factor for admission? Talking about HYPSM + other top schools. Thanks!

Not a major factor.

I would like to rephrase it, can it be seen as a major extracurriculur activity?

Being multi-lingual is interesting, but it will not guarantee you admission. Lots of people who apply to that category of institution are multi-lingual.

Your experiences should provide useful fodder for all of the application essays that you have to write, so you will almost certainly will have a chance to bring this to the attention of the admissions officers.

Don’t forget to take the TOEFL. Your written English is very good, but you skipped a couple of articles which is a very typical grammatical error for Russian and Czech native speakers.

Yes, I am fully aware that my writing is not perfect, it simply can’t be! ;)

I will take both TOEFL and the SAT CR/Writing, hopefully will get high enough results.

I expect that you will! I mentioned the TOEFL because many students don’t want to have to take it. However, it will be very helpful for your application.

Good luck with everything!

Thank you for your wishes!
