How important is it? Some people tell me its good because it helps explain your activities and provides as a supplement in marketing yourself as a candidate. Some people tell me that some schools hate them and dont look at them. Whats the truth? Do all of you plan on sending a resume? I am plan to…

bump…

No?

They look at it - it can very well determine your admittance. If there is something remarkable and uncommon in it, it will spark attention to your application.

anymore opinions?

if you have one and it looks professional and adds info to what you can fit on the application, then send it along, worst that will happen is that they don’t look at it

i sent a resume with all my applications last year, especially since the forms were often limited in how many things i could list or what i could elaborate on

If your strength is IN your extra curriculars (as in you have weak scores, etc, but great ECs, and you believe they’re what MAKES you as a person), then send a resume. But it probably should be close to spectacular. Many schools explicitly tell you not to attach a resume while others accept them only if they have something significant to contribute. An unimpressive and redundant resume filled with typical high school clubs and leadership roles will annoy admissions people.

EDIT: I’d also like to mention that there is a reason most colleges only give you a few spaces for your extra curriculars: mainly, they don’t care about the french club you attend for fifteen minutes once a month, they want to see how you discriminate between your most important activities. What’s so meaningful to you that you are willing to fill up one of the very limited spaces with it? Sending a huge long resume kind of defeats that.

Of course, this is just my personal opinion derived from reading up a lot on the issue.
