Important Financial Aid Question

So…! Im planning to apply for financial aid…and i have a problem…
My family moved from South Korea to Guatemala when I was 7 years old. For some strange reason, many immigrants here do not pay income taxes. Therefore, I do not have any tax documents avaliable. What can I do? Can I just put 0 in the questions asking for income taxes?
Also, can the fact that my family does not pay income taxes affect my chances of admission?

Are you an illegal immigrant?

nope… i am a permanent resident of Guatemala. However, the tax system in Guatemala is so disorganized and lame that most immigrants do not pay taxes. Its a complicated situation.

Get in touch with the finaid office, explain your situation, and ask what they suggest you do or whether there is any other form of documentation available they’d recommend you submit in your case. They’re bound to have seen similar things before. Good luck!
