Could you answer my following question with respect to HYPS.

My poor subject test scores have ensured that my ship has almost drowned. But I have one question :-

My lofty political ambitions and zeal won’t be shared by most of my fellow Indian applicants. ( I have sent in additional essays ~ 3 along with 2 common application essays to prove how extremely passionate I am about my nation and politics. ) so will this extreme passion somehow help me to stand out of the applicant pool as most of the other applicants from my nation won’t have the same political interests.

Here is one of my chance me thread for other stats :-

Can my immaculate school record and stellar recommendations not overshadow my test scores.

Can nothing overshadow the SATs ? ECs, essays, school record, LORs … Nothing … They are just one part of the application in a holistic process, aren’t they ?

( My essays will prove that I am thoroughly knowledgable and overly passionate about somethings. These are the same things which I would most probably study in my college so why do I need to be a jack of all trades anyway ? )

You seem very passionate, but you know no one here can tell you if you’ll get in or not. Yes, you have a chance, after that, nothing’s a sure thing. All the elite schools have an over-abundance of perfect GPA, perfect SAT achievers that they both accept and turn down. And then a bunch of less stellar students that get in. All you can do is try. But if you want to learn to be a politician, you should look at the schools in DC, where internships abound. And really, one person’s passion is another one’s annoyance. Be careful with showing your passion and know when to rein it in. Good luck.

If your so passionate about politics and such, and you said yourself that political leaders did not get 2400s, why are you so concerned with getting into HYPS so bad? You can pursue your interest elsewhere, you aren’t limited to 5-10 schools in the whole world…

@cjcmum - Thanks, I should learn to control my feelings. I feel I am stressing too much on the admission process. I really need too take a break from all this.

@goodjobbro - I guess the obsession to always be at the top is making me mad about HYPS.

This should be my last post till 30th March, I am getting too anxious and I need a break.

A BIG thank you to everybody for the help and support.

OP- best of luck to you. My fear is by sending in three additional essays you may signal to adcoms that you can’t follow directions or that you feel the rules do not apply to you. Either way, what’s done is done and I hope on March 30th, you are able to share some good news.

You do seem very passionate but like @cjcmum mentioned above that no one here can determine if you will be accepted or not. But trust me SAT is not everything. I know ur SAT II scores are low but I am sure your essay’s will over-come it provided they written truthfully.
I wish you all the very best for the results and hope you get what u want.
