<p>I am talking about high school record. I don’t expect my high school record to make my app stronger, but will it get me rejected ?</p>

<p>I know, 12th sucks but I still have an A grade, (60-100 get A), our internal marking system is horrible, i have a medical certificate recommending rest during 2 papers, which went on to spoil my marks. I got bad in science subjects, somewhere in 60s and 80-90 in CS, English, Evs, Maths.
My principal is acting as my GC, and she is very helpful. She is going to clearly all the facts in the counselor report.</p>

<p>There are no stated “minimums”. However, one must be compared to the competition. Harvard’s international applicant pool is likely the single most competitive pool in the world – due to a combination of 1) Harvard’s international prestige and 2) Harvard’s fantastically generous financial aid.</p>
<p>These two factors make only the best of the best even to be considered.</p>
<p>Harvard does not break down data separately for international students, but in general, 95.4% of admitted students were in the top 10% of their class and 91.49% had a GPA of 3.75 and higher.</p>
<p>Isn’t GPA conversion highly variable? For instance, at my old school: 90+ = A = 4.0 Some schools is 92+ = A = 4.0. Others have crazy schemes where 90 - 92 = B+ or something.</p>
<p>My current school does not give letter grades - we only get percentage marks. Furthermore, the province in which I reside has grade deflation diplomas - we take exams that are worth half our final marks. The exam is set so that the average mark is 65%. As a result, other universities in my country add 5-10% to our marks. I heard from certain places that Harvard is aware about the differences in grading systems, though.</p>
<p>allisun: Very selective colleges are fully cognizant that different schools have different marking systems, grade deflation, grade inflation, etc. </p>
<p>It’s their job to sort through and truly distinguish which are the top candidates. I wouldn’t worry – especially if your school has had kids attend top schools in the recent past</p>
<p>My school is in a small town in India. I’m pretty sure our college has never sent a single student in the US in its history of 50 years. But if my counsellor report is clear, I shouldn’t be worried, right ?</p>
<p>Harvard has an overall admit rate ~6%. The international pool is the most difficult even within this 6%.</p>
<p>You do the math. You asked for your chances – here’s my opinion. Apply if you wish. But don’t try to convince us that your ECs trump your less than jaw-dropping academics.</p>
<p>What is Harvard’s business, first and foremost? Is it extracurriculars or is it education? Is Harvard looking for debaters, musicians and tennis players who also get pretty good grades, or is it looking for top scholars who also debate, play the flute and have a good backhand?</p>
