While that’s certainly impressive, just so that this isn’t taken the wrong way - one doesn’t need to have done those things just to get into Brown. They may help if they go along with exceptional academic performance, but I didn’t meet anyone in my year with qualifications anything like this. So don’t think you need to go you and do these things to get accepted. But congratulations to those who have done these things.

I’m not going to lie-- I’ve met a lot of people who have qualifications like this-- maybe not to the same extreme, but it seems to me like a lot of people at Brown has something that’s their “hook”, especially those who didn’t come from prep schools or high schools that are Ivy feeders.

Stuckinthesand-- I’m good friends with a junior who’s running the Vet and Vet Supporters group on campus started last semester and also have a vet in my graduate program, in case you need/want some connection to other vets here on campus. You should PM me for an email address if that’s something you’re interested in.

Thanks for the support, Amadeuic. I was being quasi-facetious. There is no buzz word that accurately conveys what I did in the service, and I’m sure ‘military veteran’ would have to be published in every yearly class stat. That being said, I’m off to go train a fiddle playing orangutan.

modestmelody- Thanks for the info, I have been keeping track of Brown’s Student Veterans Organization for some time now, and will try to contact them later this summer.

lol, army service, come on. Anybody can sign up for that and its statistically more probable that someone will die in a car accident than be killed in Iraq so its no great service. I might as well sign up to be a long range truck driver than be a soldier in the army.

Same odds, same honor. lol, you’re about as honorable as a truck driver.

If you truly are a matriculant of the Class of 2013 then I should hope by the time you walk outward from the Van Wickle Gates you will re-visit statements like this with just a bit of mortification.
