Do you ever take advantage of travel deals? Do you have favorite sites where you get travel deals?
We’ve never done it. Is it for real? Like 5 days/4 nights in the Caribbean somewhere for $979 each person or some such? Or are they a come on and takes you to a not so great place? They can show nice pictures of most anywhere and make it look good, LOL.

I only take advantage of the sale of a place I know, or I could get good reviews on Tripadvisor. I think with so much online information, I think it would be very easy to find out if a sale is legit or not. I often take advantage of Groupon sales, but I would always read an establishment reviews before I purchase.

I once took advantage as a last minute deal with Princess Cruises for a Western Caribbean having previously cruised with them to Alaska, and took a room guarantee. We ended up with a great balcony room mid-ship.

My folks and brother went on a very inexpensive cruise to Italy – they had no complaints. I rarely do “travel deals,” but there are some out there.

Travelocity I think used to have these “last minute weekend deals” that included air and hotel. And they were really deals. My guess is this was to fill seats and rooms. We did a few of them…mostly because of the low airfare. But these were places we would have gone to anyway.

Theses are no longer offered.

We were just looking at deals on Windstar’s site. I have cruised with them before. They have deals like 7 days in the Mediterranean for 2000 regular 6000 - it’s a high end small line on sailing vessels.

I would just do my research on the line and itinerary. Use revews.com Cruise, cruisecritic.com cruise.com and trip advisor etc. Travelzoo puts out a newsletter with a variety of deals they select and you can search the site.

I used to use biddingfortravel.com for hotels all the time

When the last minute deals are from a remote city, be sure to factor in last minute airfare and accommodation prices, which MAY be high.
