Improve chances of getting into NYU Gallatin for someone with a bad undergrad

Assuming I have a good statement & creative/unique idea and purpose of study.

I’m more worried about my undergrad school and how it will affect me. I come from a really small/not well known school that is rated in the 500’s. I scored a 3.1 GPA. I know bad bad. However, I’ve done some nice stuff at work, have has employment in my field since I graduated and I think I can get decent recommendations. I’m also living in NYC, working in my field and competing with most people who went to A+ schools.

I myself am (I think) a unique blend of a person both personally and professionally.

What are other things I can do to improve my chances? Should I take classes at NYU of courses I did bad in in undergrad to prove I’m capable? I’m also thinking of taking the GRE even if its not required.

Are there any Advisors that can help me along the way? How do I find them?

Thanks!

In fact, a good GRE score will help you out; they will then see that your not-that-great undergrad has not hurt you.

The fact that your school is not well-known doesn’t matter.

You could take some graduate courses in your interest area to prove that you can handle graduate-level courses.

What will you be studying? I don’t think you should waste time retaking classes you already took as an undergrad. Instead that classes that are more advanced.
