My current SAT scores are: 1790 (CR 670, M 600, W 520) & 1730 ( CR 630, M 580, W 530). I am a senior in high school and my reach schools are UCLA, Villanova, and Northeastern. Should I work on improving my SAT scores or strive towards 800s on subject tests?

Have you taken the ACT? Some do better on one test vs the other.

SAT is way more important. What school ranking have u ever heard of that rates schools by SATII scores?

I don’t know anything about UCLA but Villanova & Northeastern do not require subject tests, and those SAT scores will not help your chances at admission.

As advised, try ACT and take SAT again. The low W score should be a quick fix. Am not sure that Villanova considers W though as the score does not appear on the applicant’s portal.

I say definitely try for improvement on your SAT scores. SAT II supplements, but doesn’t replace your SAT score, and your scores aren’t looking too hot for where you want to go–try the ACT and see if it goes better though, I personally find it easier.

Thanks for the advice, I am definitely going to take a look at the ACT. I’m thinking that I’ll take the ACT and take the subject tests because a lot of schools of engineering recommend to take those.
