improvement in SAT scores

how necessary is it to show improvement in SAT scores among multiple sittings? I did pretty well on March SAT, and I think that my Reading score might go down , and I’m just aiming to increase math score. Since SAT scores are composite scores (for colleges), how much will it matter if just my math score went up and the other scores went down for june SAT?

It depends on how much they go down, a 10 point drop is negligible, a 50 point drop is cause for alarm. Try not to just focus on improving one area at the expense of others. Try to make sure that you at least miantain the other scores.

I’m not sure if my response can help you, but here it goes.
many colleges aren’t even considering the writing part of the SAT (go to www.collegeboard.com and see the school profile, it is listed there if they consider it or not)
I took the SAT in March, too. However it was my first time and since I started preparing for college a bit late (international student- where I come from you start preparing for college 2-3 monthis before your final year in college ends!!!) but if you still can, I think you should take the test again (ofcourse only if you think you can and need to do better).

bump… I heard colleges take the best composite score, so I don’t think it should matter…

I’m pretty sure most colleges take your composite score, or best scores from multiple sittings. If you think you can improve at all I would recommend taking it again. Colleges are aware that students can have bad days and don’t hold it against the student for taking it again. As long as it isn’t a huge drop (say two hundred points or so), I don’t think it matters.

Second time: 780 CR, 680 W, 760 M

Still got into Dartmouth. Don’t worry so much. :)

Some schools look at your best sitting, but others take the best sub-scores from any sitting. Depends on the college.

almost all private schools combine scores, while many publics (notably the UCs) look at the best score in one sitting

is a 700R 730W 760M good enough for good schools? Since I don’t think I will spend as much time reviewing for the SAT in june as in march (when I first took it)… Should I take it again?

“is a 700R 730W 760M good enough for good schools?”

Definitely. If you think that you could improve, though, there’s nothing wrong with trying again. Personally, I did a lot less prep for my second SAT and did a lot better, so I’m inclined to say that it won’t necessarily hurt you not to study that much (even though it might).
