Hello everyone! These days, employers seek workers who will have exceptional communication skills. For myself, I plan on majoring in International Relations, and I seek to be a Foreign Service Officer, so communication skills are going to be one of the most important factors in applying for that job. I was wondering if there was any suggestions in double majoring or minoring in another field that could improve my communication skills, while also giving me flexibility if my first job/career isn’t geopolitical related. Also, suggestions for extracurricular or other activities (I hear bar tending is a good one) that improve communication skills are much appreciated. Thanks!
Debate team, mock trial, Toastmasters – basically any “make your argument” activity would be great practice. And although you couldn’t pay me enough to do it, any customer service phone job (I saw recently that Amazon is looking for part-time CSRs to work from home) would be good, too.
