@Daisybug Do you mind looking at my essays? I have no idea whether I am going in the right direction or not.
Wooh. I finally got all final essay approvals from my teachers and submitted my application and then I just spent the last 15 minutes sending out the recommendations, transcript requests, and counselor forms on teachrecs. Pretty much done now. All seems good except the tracker says IMSA hasn’t received the SAT scores yet which is weird because I went to the sat website and it said it sent the scores to IMSA, but anyway, I’ll check that out. Where are you guys up till?
Really envying you right now! My last SAT is on January 24, so right now I’m spending every second preparing for that. Right after that I’m going to clean up my essays until they seem application-ready. I’m in a bit of a time crunch. ~X( Now is when I wish I started my essays earlier. I’m a nervous wreck right now, because I am supposed to do better than you guys to be accepted as an eighth grader, which doesn’t seem very likely as of now. And if I don’t get in this year I will have to move out of state… arghh. I just want to go to IMSA, and try so hard but I don’t see any progress.
Haha, don’t worry. It’s never too late. Just take a moment, breathe, and set your priorities in order. Really for the SAT, just worry about knowing the vocab cause the analyzation is pretty easy and so is the math. For the essays, just get ur teacher to post some suggestions. Also, did any of you high schoolers get a letter from Stanford for the under-graduate high schooler summer college program?
oh yeah @AviSaxena33 I got one, probably because of my collegeboard account. I wish I could apply but I can’t, I have Sanskritam Camp and if I make it into IMSA then that stuff.
@AviSaxena33 @priyaluvsbooks Lol the tuition costs… Might as well just go to your local university (U of I, Northwestern, etc…) Stanford is great and all but education is universal.
I wish I could apply too, but it’s oddly only for 16 year olds and up so I don’t know why they gave it to us. @theeedog What school do you go to? I feel like I might know you oddly because your username sounds familiar.
@AviSaxena33 Technically, no. I go to the Stanford University Online High School, so I get to go to a different summer thing every year. They are rather generous with their financial aid.
@AviSaxena33 I don’t go to Palatine High School, I would rather not give out my school for confidentiality reasons though. I do live in the Northwest Chicago Suburbs where most of you guys go to school.
@ChemSniper How? The letter I said strictly says for sophomores that are 16 by June 20 and above with no exceptions.
@AviSaxena33 this https://ohs.stanford.edu/
@theeedog That is the online high school, I’m referring to the letter Priya and I got for the summer highschool camp in Silicon Valley. 16 is required.
@AviSaxena33 Oh ok I have never heard of either until now.
@AviSaxena33 Students at OHS go to a similar, but different high school camp. It’s shorter, but is otherwise pretty much the same.
@ChemSniper from my quick research, I have found that they are two completely different programs in terms of admissions and requirements. One is available from age 14/17 whereas the other is 15-17. One is open for all to apply I believe and the other for the people that got the letters or at least they have a better chance or something like that. Anyway, still can’t apply till next year.
I am taking the sat on the 26th, but I took it over the summer and got 740 math and 540 cr
I’m from peoria, and I’ve maintained a 4.0 gpa throughout middle school and this year. Plus I’m taking all honors classes… I qualified and went to the ihsa state swim meet for 3 events and I’ve won many piano competitions, but the only math/science/technology activity and award I have is mathcounts because I spend so much time swimming and practicing piano… I’ve been to the tour and info meeting in my community. I’ve also had many people look over my essays and they say that I express my passion really well. What are my chances of getting in???
@claire611 you definately have a stong application. Just try to get the SAT score up, because right now your averaging a 1280 in SAT.
@claire611 The fact that you’re from peoria should serve you good regarding you reading sat so I wouldn’t be too worried about ur sat.
Who went to the IMSA Preview Day?
@kidfood I guess so- with 2nd semester starting at IMSA my days will get much more busy, so ideally send me the one that you are most struggling with so I can give you quality feedback.
