IMSA Applicant Class of 2018

does it matter what courses you take for math and science as long as you’re taking the highest offered at your school? I fear that people who only take Biology H and Geometry H have a disadvantage against people who take higher level classes. Do they consider that in admission?

@Georgules‌ Your essays sound good, but yeah, you have no way of evaluating those. Your teacher reccs sound like they’re coming from someone who’s used to being the teacher’s favorite. That might be entirely inaccurate, idk, but what that means is that what seems like a bad relationship to you might be completely normal to other applicants. Overall, your application seems decent enough.

Breathing a sigh of relief- just got the confirmations that all 4 recommendations have been submitted. Now all that’s left is to sit back and wait till May!

ME TOO!!! Just got the email saying my optional was submitted!! I’ve been tensed about that for weeks now. I’m so relieved…
lmao…Just 2.5 months to go

I hope we all get acceptance letters . . . if the envelope is thicker that’s better, right? Then it must mean there’s documentation on the rest of the enrollment process

Not really that much thicker. I doubt you will notice the difference.

Unbelievable, I have two of the most important recommendations left, math and science, but they haven’t submitted them yet. I am really worried and extremely frustrated since I have reminded them yet will not give a reasonable response. At this point I am praying.

@kidfood how many recs do you have in: english and optional, or just english?

Just got my last recommendation in - science! I was pretty worried

Idk i just want a letter

how on earth am i going to wait 2.5 months to know :frowning: i wish i could forget about it so i wouldn’t keep thinking about it

ikr…that;s all tht’s on my mind these days…

At least you guys have a chance, if my math teacher doesn’t submit his recc, I’m done for.

Looking at everyone else’s scores makes me fell like i dont have a chance :frowning:

*feel

@ck1012 How did you do that makes you feel that way?

@ck1012 don’t worry, everybody has different situations. I have decent SAT scores but I live in a really competitive area. You may have something that makes you really unique, or something that increases your chances.

yeah, i wish i wasn’t from a competitive spot :frowning: it makes me panic even more. i hope something about me stood out enough in my app.

Even after I’ve read all of these discussions and talked to people who were accepted into IMSA . . . I’m not sure what they’re really looking for. Seems all over the place.

@Georgules i definitely know what you mean, some people say essays matter more than sat, and then some say sat matters more- i heard so many contradictions when preparing and it just stressed me out lol
i guess it just proves that every case is individual, though. no two applicants are alike.
