@ck1012 Also take this in account that if they find applicants with similar situations with the community and etc, but have higher scores in sat or RCE or whatever, it also puts you at a disadvantage is what I’d assume cause I sort of have a similar situation in my community (Palatine) where only 2% I think of the student body isn’t on free or reduced lunches and a chunk are in the poverty level. All in all, the way I look it at, there is no true advantage community wise unless you live in a place like Englewood or of the sort.
Ok I understand thanks! All I can do now is hope and keep my fingers crossed
@AviSaxena33 I’m on math team! My school did awful at regionals, but our Algebra 1 team got second so we’re probably going to be going to state. Hope to see you there!
@AviSaxena33 And even if the Algebra 1 team doesn’t qualify, I automatically do on the basis of placing 2nd.
Nice. What did u get out of 20? @aminorspark
@AviSaxena33 18. You?
- I apparently was so sleepy that I put a negative sign from one answer on another answer on the other side of the answer sheet and I put it on the question number so it looked like I made an x through number 16 or whatever it was and they debated on whether they'd give me the point and they did but then I got the one wrong cause I forgot a negative. :(. That also dropped me from tied for 1st to 3rd.... -_- @aminorspark
@AviSaxena33 That stinks… I just made arithmetic errors. Are we allowed to discuss the test itself?
I feel like I have no idea how to write XD. In my opinion, I turned in one of my worst essays since it was quite difficult to write, but somehow it was some of the best work I have done. My English teacher is a very hard grader on essays, and I thought this would be terrible, yet I got the highest score. This makes me think about whether I did poorly on the essays for the applications.
Sorry, I just realized I sound very pessimistic on here, I am actually try to be optimistic. I’ll try to be more encouraging with admissions.
I feel like pessimism is the best type of optimism. Pessimism also keeps you humble.
That’s not the type of talk for groupwork! You’ll have groupmates sort you out quick-smart
Thinking you won’t get in and not getting in is wayyyy better than having a lot of confidence and thinking you will get in and not
I hope I will get in - I can be optimistic about my chances, but not necessairily confident that I will.
Our WH teacher went on a rant today about proper bagels. Anybody else have teachers that do that sometimes? Maybe it’s just NT
idk, i feel like i’m really worried, but my school’s pretty decent so I’m not too worried about what happens if I don’t make it in…
@priyaluvsbooks Same here
They said that the letters may be out a little early too…
How do you know this, and did they specify a date?
They told us at the online informational meeting that “since they collected applications quite early- there is a chance that the letters may be out earlier than May 15th” I’m guessing last week of April or First week of May…
Darn I was hoping early meant early April, though that’d definitely be asking for too much
