IMSA Applicant Class of 2018

Anyone here invited to attend IMSAloquium? In the past they invited applicants to this day. It turned out that these invited students were offered admission a few weeks later. I think it is their way of convincing the designated students to matriculate at the school by showing them all these exciting research they can do.

Not sure if they still do that. So do not panic if you did not get an invite. Plus it was a small group - about 15.

@nickster12 I’ve never heard of that before. I mean, I’m sure it could be a thing, but I’ve never heard of it.

It’s possible they do not do that anymore. When is IMSAloquium anyway? My sibling was invited and all those invited eventually gained admission a few weeks later. I was not invited but some of the students from my class were invited. I am not even sure if they did that when I was there. I noticed some non-IMSA students there but the IMSAloquium is open to the public so they may not have been applicants/admits. I thought it was a cool way to find out ahead of everyone if you were going to be admitted. Honestly, I was a little bit scared when I was not invited to IMSAloquium. But hey, just a few more weeks.

Oh god you just reminded me- imsaloquim is on the 30ty of april. From what I’ve heard, they don’t invite people anymore, but I could be wrong…

I’m not sure when it is, but the upperclassmen have their practice thing for it this Wednesday. Last week was the end of SIR.

Anybody receive any news on when the Admission announcements will be made?

@AviSaxena33 In one of the online informational meetings, it said it will be mailed no later than May 15th. Aside from that I haven’t heard anything. I think everyone here has put IMSA admissions to the side for right now due to school priorities. Right now balancing a sport and school is becoming a lot of work, but not more difficult work. I am getting slightly worried about not having enough time to study for the AP test. As of right now I only have time on the weekends to sit down for intense studying. BTW here is a cool link for everyone taking APHG. http://www.scoop.it/t/geography-education/p/4041170159/2015/04/11/ap-human-geography-frqs

same here about the AP test. teachers keep piling on work and school+sports+other commitments = no time. i really need to find some time to hardcore study!
i’m making quizlets with every chapter’s vocab words, if you guys want i can put the links here once i’m done

@yeldarb1 that’d be a huge help if you could. Im trying to find time to make my own quizlets but its not exactly working out…

@priyaluvsbooks @yeldarb1 Guys, take advantage of a NATIONAL AP course. People have already made hundreds of quizlets. Just search up the name of the chapter and course. I have been doing this all year and it has helped me so much. Just make sure it has ALL the words and don’t confuse it with the AP Study Book words. Good luck studying!

Also, I just found this resource to help with the exam. I found this today and I am unsure of it’s reliability or effectiveness, so use at your own caution. https://www.learnerator.com/ap-human-geography

Got an email from IMSA today, “Please anticipate that letters will be going out in the mail within the next 1-2 weeks.”
i think that’s pretty cool bc two weeks from now is may 7th, a bit earlier than may 15th
i guess now we have an idea of when these letters will come out!

@yeldarb1 I was just about to say that! and they said within the next 1-2 weeks so eeekkkk!!! that could mean we get them by next Friday!! I can’t wait. honestly I just can’t

it’s exciting! hoping for the best but…whatever happens, happens!

ikr? I freaked out after seeing that email. BUT IM SO EXCITED. nonetheless, its gonna come sooner or later, may as well come sooner.

omg hi i’m so glad i found this thread
i also applied to IMSA class of 2018 recently but i’m not sure if i can get in though and i’m really nervous for the letters coming out soon
i had combined 1540 sat score (790 math 750 reading) and 4.0 gpa last year. i did track, speech team, quiz bowl, and math team. i think my recommendations should be pretty good but idk
what do you think my chances are?? do you think i can get in to IMSA??

i definitely think you have a great shot! @swaggy333

You have the best shot out of all of us purely based on SATs, especially if you are a 9th grader. @swaggy333

^ agreed
i went to IMSA’s college fair today for a sibling, and i talked to some colleges that said you can get some MAJOR scholarships (like $21,000 for some) just for being from IMSA since they are an NCSSSMST school. that’s so cool!
