Hey, can I be in the chat?
How do you choose your roommate? Do we get to choose at all?
I’m not interested in rooming with my best friend, as that’s a recipe for disaster, but a friend of a friend is starting this fall and I’d like to room with her.
@Aralynn Are you talking about the 8th grade interview?
@andrama28 , Take advantage of the 8th grade interview as much as you can. I got that last year and it helped a loy with my questions about the admissions process. Granted, Mr.Backstrom and I did get sidetracked by a Star Wars/Star Trek discussion, but it was still very informative. They tell you what to improve to get in and why you didn’t this year. Ask as many questions as you want and take a transcript and/or resume with you.
@ChemSniper , Yup.
@vniatge , I have a friend who went. She got accepted.
@ck1012 Nope.
@Aralynn sure! Just give me your kik
Your Friend here says you can it is in the online survey for applying that are due the 29th. The request has to be mutual though.
@lovehearts119 I would be interested to know some people SO I would be up to join a group chat
@ck1012 @ptvnicorn SEAMS was the best thing ever. I do not live in the Chicago area and went up after being rejected from IMSA (I got my SEAMS letter in my email because mine got lost) Like my friend up there (Pretty sure she was my roommate) I had the best time and learned so much. The instructors are amazing an don’t miss the chance to talk to them and learn more about the school. The tutors are also really cool and are a great to ask questions too. You feel like you are at a mini IMSA for 10 days and that probably strengthened my want to be accepted. Now that I am in I am really excited for the fall. GO CLASS OF 2018!
Ah @Aralynn I went to the interview as well. Incredibly useful.
Hi! I applied to IMSA this year and was accepted. I thought it would be fun to meet some other people who are going as well before the year starts. Please email me at chay.petite@gmail.com!
@Oscadget Eager to email what is you address (gmail, yahoo, etc.)
@Aralynn @NerdyGirl2000 @Oscadget may I ask what were your SAT scores?
I got in the six hundreds for all three categories @vniatge
I never really looked at mine I was too scared (because I was really worried) but my parents did and told me I was relatively low (500’s)
Are we allowed to bunk with girls at IMSA?
@lsutiger25 nope
although there is one residence hall that is called co-ed, boys and girls don’t get to share wings, much less rooms.
In case you don’t know, each hall is set up like a big H with each leg being what’s called a wing (each hall has an A, B, C, and D wing). The one “co-ed” hall on campus has two girls wings and two boys wings.
Normally you can’t even go into a girl’s wing if you’re a guy and vice versa, but there is a special privilege called Intervisitation that become available after your first semester of sophomore year. In Intervis you can go into a girl’s room if you’re a guy or vice versa, but there are tons of rules attached to the whole process.
also in reference to SAT scores: I got in with a 710 math and like 660ish reading. You can get in with lower scores than I had in reading, but my math score was right around the average for my class if memory serves.
