@lsutiger25 i think everybody from my year got in, so don’t worry! it was only about 45 people if memory serves
@fabrice don’t worry about it! Admissions doesn’t consider anything other than your current application when you apply. They don’t offer deferral anymore, so you aren’t guaranteed a spot next year, but really if you got accepted as an 8th grader then your chances of being accepted again are probably pretty high.
tl;dr you can turn them down as an 8th grader and it won’t affect your 9th grade application
Thank you very much for the vote of confidence. I sure hope so too! congrats to all of you and hopefully I will see you next year.
@fabrice may I ask what were your SAT scores?
math 780, reading 780
For this years waitlisters, again i will say That mrs. Banham told me there was a very competitive pool this year and that there is a relatively larger waitlist so she doesnt anticipate that everyone will get off unfortunately.
That’s what they thought last year too butttttttttt
just think positive! does imsa honor hall requests?
@lsutiger25 Percentages aren’t what makes IMSA hard to get into. Look at the average GPA and SAT scores for colleges instead, and you’ll find IMSA matches up with some very competitive colleges. The percentages are comparatively high because (unlike with colleges) the people who know IMSA exists to begin with tends to be the people who would be competitive in the selection process. Also: You’re applying as an eighth grader, which is more difficult.
@fabrice those scores are astounding as an 8th grader. Congrats!
And @ck1012 did you receive the SEAMS registration letter yet?
IMSA does not honor hall requests. You can chose to be in either single gender or co-ed, but that’s about it. Roommate requests are gucci though.
I thought the hall thing was a trick question like if you were a guy and said you wanted co-ed it’d be an automatic disqualification lol
Nah, a lot of people, both male and female, request co-ed. It’s a pretty interesting hall, but remember that it’s not guaranteed you’ll be in it since there are 3 other single gender halls to fill up for each.
Hi i am going to apply to imsa next year, i am a 8th grader so far I have a gpa of 3.66 but I am in beta club and state science fair silver what are my chances
@bjpaia your gpa is fine although if you’re from a competitive area I’d try to keep it a 4. Get involved in more clubs and sports especially math team. Take practice sat, in fact i’d start this summer just to see where you are and what you need to work on the most. Improve your vocabulary, this will help not only for the sat, but for the essays you will have to type.
I haven’t gotten my SEAMS letter yet and I’m little worried @vniatge
I had that interview last year, too. Were there really only 10 of us?
I went to Energy Camp and Extreme Math and Science. Anyone from those camps in this thread/got accepted?
There’s a couple of people I want to meet up with again.
Also, any girls from Aerospace Engineering GAMES camp?
I have one question right now. The most important question of all time:
When does the wifi shut off?
Also, are guys allowed in girl’s rooms and vice versa? You know, just to hang out and stuff.
