Imsa applicant class of 2019

I mean if you guys REALLY wanted a boost, you could transfer to a really ghetto school so you could stand out lol

@lsutiger25 well, I do not know what geographical category homeschool kids are classified by IMSA, I assume, by their physical location. I was thinking about studying at home, my school is so slow and boring… not challenging at all… I am waiting so much time there…Hey, anybody here is homeschooled here get accepted to IMSA?

@caressmytoenails My school has 25% math and reading proficiency, so I am standing out. :slight_smile: The problem is - school is designed for intermediate to low math/reading proficiency. This is why I want to go to IMSA

@javascript Honestly though your situation is not as bad as mine xD. My school is sorta weird. We have bad academics, but really smart people to outweigh the academics. Of course, the really smart people want to escape the bad academics, and go to a school with good academics (like IMSA). If you are the only applicant from a school, you are guaranteed in. So, do not sweat it.

@javascript Aye dude we should totally meet up at integrated science if we both get in

@lsutiger25 I did apply for both SEAMS and Integrated science. I am not sure if my family is poor enough to get into Integrated Science. Everybody in my school receiving free lunch.

If anyone wants to know, i emailed imsa and they said the seams decisions will be sent out before or on wednesday

@javascript Thats the weird thing doe. Like, I thought SEAMS were for the poorer people, while Integrated science is like a camp. I thought this because SEAMS is categorized under PROMISE programs for IMSA. And, PROMISE programs are for people who do not get an opportunity of learning higher level subjects. So, thats why I only applied for integrated science because I thought it was actually a camp xD

@XxSwegLordxX Great News!

@heyiluvbookstoo if you are IMSA applicant and get accepted this year, message @red42413

@heyiluvbookstoo
Were you accepted?

I opened my acceptance letter at 2 AM on Sunday morning after I got back from Robotics (Was anyone else on this thread there?) It’s gonna be cool to meet some of you in a few weeks! See you then!

Hello, I was invited to IMSA as part of the class of 2019, but I’m still hesitant to go. I would love to have the great education that the school has to offer, but I also don’t want to throw away my running career in the process. I know this is something that doesn’t usually come up, but it would do me wonders if someone could tell me how you guys (particularly the boys team) train in either Cross Country or Track & Field at IMSA. :slight_smile:

i got waitlisted but im pretty hopeful

Can any IMSA students tell me about the music and athletic program, specifically band and soccer?

@chicagonerd The music program at this school is pretty bad overall. Band here is probably the worst part of the music department and most of the people don’t really care about band, the choirs aren’t really the best, but the orchestras are decent here. We don’t participate in organizational contest but you can choose to do solo/ensemble contest and you’re able to audition for IMEA. In general, it’s not the best music department but I still definitely encourage you to participate in it. I’m section leader for percussion in the top band this year and I plan on staying all three years. It’s definitely worth it to keep playing in band and at least see how you like it though :slight_smile:

Cross country or track?

@javascript
One of the missions for IMSA is to promote equality among genders, race, sexual orientations and economic class. In math and science, minorities such as women are often faced with challenges such as gender discrimination and bias. Despite you thinking that girls may have an easier chance now, in reality, they have had a much harder time getting to the same point as males.

@chicagonerd And as for sports, most of the teams don’t do too well. There are a couple sports that do well but not many, but that definitely doesn’t mean you just shouldn’t do them. I did track this year and it wasn’t that bad. The workouts sucked at times but they weren’t nearly as intense as at my old school. It was definitely fun and worth it though. Most sports are the same; the workouts aren’t that terrible but they aren’t exactly easy and most people love being on the team.

-How is Model UN and Tennis at IMSA?
-How do I do a campus tour? Do I need to find an IMSA student (I don’t know many)?
