<p>First post on the site and was wondering what you guys think my chances are of getting accepted into…Bentley, Bryant, Marist, ECU, TCU, Roger Williams and Towson. I am a white male and go to a very competitive public high school in the northeast (about 300 students in my class). I have taken all honors courses throughout high school and received almost all B’s with a few C+'s and 1 C-. The only AP class I took was AP Stats that I took my junior year and finished with a B. However, I have put myself in a real dilemma this senior year by doing HORRIBLE the first term. I had 1 B, 1 C, 2 D’s, and 2 F’s (both 59’s). One of the F’s was in AP Environmental Science. I have since rebounded in all the classes and currently have all B’s or A’s this term, but I am still doing poorly in APES due to a conflict with the teacher and I. The teacher is horrible and out of a class of 25 kids, 9 have F’s. </p>

<p>I have almost no EC’s but the thing is, I am an athlete and am one of the best in my state in my sport. A lot of the schools are recruited me and want me. I just hope that my senior year does not mess this up. What are my chances?</p>
<p>I’m not too familiar with the schools you listed, however, if you are as good as an athlete as you say, then you should have no trouble getting in…</p>
<p>Nervous, do you mean first quarter or first semester? Don’t know how this actually works but if you pass the other 3 quarters wouldn’t you have a passing grade at the end of the year when your transcripts get sent to the schools? I would talk to your Guidance Counselor and I would also find out if you can move to another AP class. Get your parents involved if necessary.</p>
<p>Yes, I mean quarter, but from what I’ve heard, first quarter is the most important and the second half of the year doesn’t really matter. What do others think my chances are?</p>
<p>if your school only sends first SEMESTER grades, and you manage to pull those Fs up to Cs and Ds up to Bs, then you having absolutely nothing to worry about.
if youre that good of an athlete, then even a D won’t ruin your chances, assuming all those schools are of the same academic rigor as Towson, which is the only one I am familiar with.</p>
<p>also, you dont need to tell us how many other kids have Fs in your class. unless your counselor is sending a note explaining the situation, then that statement has no merit and wont do you any good when it comes to being accepted into colleges.</p>
<p>for clarification, at my school, colleges only see our semester grades, as those are the only grades on our high school transcript. if that’s how your school operates, then first quarter grades dont mean anything if you can do well second quarter.</p>
<p>Towson is a pretty sure bet. But if you are really worried about all the poor grades due to teacher conflicts, you should explain to your counselor about the situations.</p>
