In a Rut.. Need help...

Okay guys heres the dealio, my cousin and i would like to go to the same college, problem is, she wasnts to major in art, like drawing and junk like that,(she knows, but im not sure what it is), and i want to major in english. We both want to stay in TX if at all possible, but I really want a big spirit, football school. The only one i have been able to find is UT Austin, which isnt an option due to family opinions. Am i stupid and just overlooking schools that fit this, or does one not exist?

Family opinions? The joy of letting football rivalries override the possibility of an excellent education. Some other schools to consider (the following have good art and English programs and have plenty of school spirit and great athletics):

Clemson University

Ohio State University
Penn State University Park

UCLA
University of Alabama

University of Utah
University of Wisconsin - Madison
West Virginia University

yea, i love family too, they are still mad im choosing not to go to A&M so i can go to school with my cousin, i dont think i should push my luck, seeing how they do pay the bills… thanks for the list

of the schools above, USC, Michigan, Syracuse, Indiana, and UCLA have paticularly good art programs

dunno about art, but U of Iowa has one of the best english departments in the nation and the football team is consistently ranked highly and the fans go nuts! My dad went there and we go to a game at Kinnick every year. 70,000 fans at every game and a rowdy student section, it’s a blast.

If you’re interested in art and English, Rutgers would be a smart place to consider… the Mason Gross School of Art (http://www.masongross.rutgers.edu/index_flash.html</a>) is really quite good and the English department is ranked 18th in the nation (tied with Texas and Northwestern). We also have the football craze going on right now, of course…
