In HighSchool, and have a question

I’m half way through HighSchool and my grades have allways been nearly passing, however, if I get straight A’s in my next two high school years, would that do anything that could determine wether or not I could be admitted in to college?

If so, could there be any scholarship chances?

If not, Why not, and what could get me into college?

btw, I’m in the U.S.

Yes. You can be admitted to college as it is, but upping your performance will give you a wider range of options. Being able to explain the sudden change in performance level may widen it further.

Maybe, but they’ll probably depend on more than your grades. Some will be automatic for certain GPA/SAT (or ACT) combos. Some will be automatic based on test scores alone (or NMF status). Others will consider your recs, essays, EC’s. Your chances will depend on the type of schools you’re looking at. Avoid putting yourself in a position where you’re dependent on merit aid.

Some people are late academic bloomers. If you’ve really had a change of heart, throw yourself into it. Let your new attitude be apparent to your teachers and GC, challenge yourself, prep for your standardized tests. Do a search for the thread (it was pinned to the front page a few months ago) about people who transferred up…lots of stories you might find interesting.

you have a shot, but you really need to buckle down

User: please arrange an appt with your guidance counselor as soon as possible in the Fall or even now if school’s not yet out. He/she can best evaluate your overall picture and give you concrete guidance. Also he/she can tell you others who have succeeded in your same predicament. College search choices and financing realities for students in your situation will be available too. Best of luck to you your final two years!
