In my "Why Yale" essay should i abbreviate program names to save character space?

<p>I contend that the 500-char “Why Yale” essay is someone’s cruel joke. I’m glad it wasn’t part of the app when I applied many moons ago. These few sentences are 280 characters. How long did it take you to read it?</p>
