In need of answers to BASIC questions!

I never even considered taking the ACT until today when I was told that I would probably do better on it than I did on the SATs.
Therefore, I am kind of completely clueless about how the ACT works, so if you guys could answer these simple questions that’d help out a lot. Thanks!

Do UC’s require that I take the writing part?

Are the sections of the test timed like the SATs where after 25 minutes you HAVE to move onto the next section, or do you just move at your own pace throughout the test?

How does the scoring of each section work? How do they figure out the overall score?

If I choose not to enter my high school code so the scores won’t be sent, can I still have it sent afterwards if I think I actually did well?

not sure, check official websites

There are only 4 timed sections, its not split up like the SAT. English (45 minutes) Math (60 Minutes) Reading (35 mins) Science (35 mins)

It is a scaled score from 1-36. They average the 4 scores together and round to get your composite. ie 32.5=33.

Do you mean the college codes? You can send the ACT at any time. They only send single tests, not a report of all tests taken like the SAT.

Can I send the scores AFTER i receive them?

Yes. But it costs money. Just like the SAT. $8 i think?

About the timing, you’ll probably have to work way faster on the ACT than the SAT; you won’t have much time if any left after each section and it’s a mad rush the whole way through some of the sections.
