In Need of Some Advice

I’m a senior in high school, and I already know that I want to go to U of M. Of course I still have to figure out how I’m gonna convince my parents to pay the 50 K per year, since I’m OOS, but I’m working on that.
Anyway, here’s my issue:
I really want to be in the dermatology field. I don’t know if I want to go to med school to be an actual practicing dermatologist (with a medical degree), but there are other careers in the field, like product development, etc.
I know Michigan’s dermatology department is one of the best in the country - one of the top five. But as I stated before, i’m not sure if I’m going into med school.
So let’s say I majored in biochemistry as an undergraduate, with the intention of going into skincare. But since I’m not planning on going to med school, would Michigan’s dermatology department pretty much be irrelevant?
And let’s say I DID decide to go to med school at Michigan (after undergraduate). Would it really matter where I went to school for undergraduate? Because if that’s the case, my parents would most definitely make me stay in state for UG.

Better undergraduate college tend to feed to better medical schools because the training for them is much more advanced. Michigan has a very good record of sending many students to the best medical schools. In term of UM’s dermatology department, that is irrelevant at this point because you are applying to undergrad. If money is an issue, I’d recommend looking at your top in-state option or a cheaper out-of-state option.

As long as you go to a relatively reputable in-state institution, you should be okay in terms of medical school as far as my knowledge about the subject goes.
