In-person interview attire question

My son has an in-person interview for an alumni scholarship at GT. He received only a message about the time and the place. Is wearing a blazer fine or too much?

Neat “dressy casual” (button-down shirt, khakis, shoes rather than sneakers) should be absolutely fine. On the other hand, there isn’t really a downside to wearing a blazer, unless (a) the interviewer has an irrational hatred of formal clothing or (b) the blazer would make your son so uncomfortable that it would distract him during the interview.

Of course, make sure that the clothes fit properly…

Sometimes, it is obvious that a person rarely wears dressy clothes, because they do not fit well and therefore do not look good, defeating the purpose of wearing dressy clothes.
