Do you guys think we’re getting tested on the book or is it more just a read this and think about what the author wrote and relate it to the honor code later?

DO NOT READ IT. For years now it’s been a waste of time. No one ever reads it, and it’s never mentioned again.

Yeah…don’t read it. I even saw people taking it in and getting money for it at the end of the year at book buy back. I’m not sure if I recommend that or not…but thats the attitude toward the book.

Thank you. I’m half way through the book. Its a quick read because of the format, but extremely dull. Once again thanks for the tip.

do we bring that book on rday?

There’s really no need to do so

I have read most of it. Most of it is lacking because the interviews are sort of drab Q and A. I don’t think any input on ethics will hurt us. Its a remarkably quick read (with the sluggish interlude about Bea Gaddy and her proposal to subsidize families for each child under 5…as if we don’t give enough handouts already, lets pay them to have kids! [more than we already do]) I liked some of Norman Augustine’s, Mike Kryzewski’s, and especially Dr. Earl Hess. The Generals were interesting. I disliked/was disinterested by: Freedman, Sue Myrick, Joh Naber, Bea Gaddy, and especially Dr. Nancy Olivieri (I thought it was a book about Ethics in the U.S…oh well). Havent read Rose Marie Srauss, James Treston, West Point, or anything else.

READ IT! Even if you don’t gain much from it, check it out. What else are you doing with your time. (I personally am training physically and learning General Chemistry by hand so I can validate it. I’m at 50% in about a week, just need to finish the other half! I am sure you have a lot of free time, thats all I am saying)

Dude, skip the Chemistry and go have some fun. Enjoy what time you have left. Trust me when I say you’re going to get a MILLION classes in ethics and sexual harrassment. I know West Point is all you’re thinking about right now, but try to toss it from your mind until R-Day is here. It’s what you’ll be living for 4 years. Enjoy civilian life while you can.

“What else are you doing with your time.” I can think of at least a hundred thing I would rather do then read a book about ethics including yard work. And I can think of a lot more thing I would rather do then chem including a read the stupid ethics book.

yeah skip reading that thing. have FUN before you go. just try not to get into trouble.

Hehe… I just met the author of that book on Wednesday. He ran the Leadership and Ethics workshop at SLS. He’s a smart guy, and he gave us some good problems to work out, but ultimately the book looks pretty boring. If you want, just read chapter 15. That chapter includes some info about West Point. I haven’t read it yet but I got the book for free at the session.

I also recieved the book “Inside Terrorism” from the English workshop (very intriguing topic… good read so far) and from the English professor as an award for being “outstanding” he gave me the “Norton Anthology of Poetry”… I was like “whaaaa!?”

But yeah, listen to the cadets. A lot of the stuff in there is common sense. Go somewhere in the time you have left.
