In state admission

Is it easier for residents of Houston to get into Rice than applicants from other places?

No … it’s actually harder because Rice is looking for geographic diversity.

wow, sucks to be me then :(

well…kind of. I mean tons of houstonians apply- but if u stay strong you’ll have a good shot. Make sure u do an interview!!!

It doesn’t mean it’s impossible; it just means that Houstonians will generally need higher stats than those that have geographic diversity on their side. My son was admitted … and with scholarship money … so definitely try!

I agree with blackeyedsusan. It is not impossible; I am from Houston and also received a scholarship. The main thing is to show LOTS of demonstrated interest. Do an interview on campus, a tour, go to the presentation before the tour, and make sure you sign in.
