In-state vs Out for elementary education major (Pa split the degree now)

<p>Pennsylvania has recently split the elementary education degree so that prospective teachers need to choose between Early Elementary Ed. (pk-4) or Middle Level Elementary (4-8) with a subject specialization. This really makes it hard for me to decide which pathway to choose! </p>

<p>Am I better of picking one of the 2 thereby limiting myself to teach in other states that don’t break up the degree? Or, should I go out-of-state and get certified in K-6? Would it then be difficult to teach in PA as a result? it’s very confusing and ANY help you can give me is extremely appreciated!</p>

<p>It all depends where you want to teach. It is very difficult for teachers to change states. You may also want to look at other schools in PA, I don’t know what school you are talking about, but different schools (esp. private ones have probably not changed their elementary education degree). Your best resource to answer this question maybe your teachers at school and if they can’t answer your question I bet they can put you in touch with someone in your district that can.</p>
