Hi! So, i’m from Maryland about 30 minutes away from UMD college park and I got a full ride to the school, but I was also accepted to UCLA and wait listed at Berkeley. Money isnt a huge problem, but obviously anyone would benefit from free school. So, I was wondering what the benefits of going to my state school versus trying to go to UCLA or Berkeley if I get off the waitlist. I’ve sort of always wanted to get away from my town which is why im especially hesitant. Does the difference in rank really matter between these schools? I want to major in political science or economics.
No, go to Maryland. It wouldn’t make sense to give up a full ride. Paying private school tuition for a state school makes zero sense.
Political science major located right next to Washington DC and full ride vs. California dreaming. Save the money for Graduate School. You’ll have a great time at Maryland-CP. Great student body and academically strong.
