In-store Setup

So, I’ll be getting my laptop this weekend, which is all fine and dandy. I know the one I want, the accessories, all that good jazz. The store I’m going to offers in-store setup, which performs the initial startup, cleans out free junk, installs (one?) software you purchase, etc.

Now, I feel that I’m pretty computer literate, and I can manage my way around computers just fine. However, I was wondering if doing the in-store setup is worth the money I’d pay for it (it would be around $40.00). So, has anyone gotten an in-store setup for a computer? Is it recommendable, or is it best to just trust yourself with the setup?

I guess I’m just really excited to finally get my laptop for college, and I don’t want to risk messing it up. =P

Don’t bother with that - they’re basically stealing your money. A clean install is really easy, you can find a guide for your brand laptop at [Notebook Forums and Laptop Discussion - Powered by vBulletin](http://forum.notebookreview.com).

Huh, I’ll check that site out. Thanks! =]

Actually, they have a simple free one as well. It’s not that extensive, but they set it up and make sure it runs well. They might do a couple of other things, but I’m not quite sure. However, since it is Vista, and I’m slightly worried about messing with Vista, is that worth the time to do it?

I’m mostly worried about the experience of the person doing it as well.

I did a clean install on my laptop, and it took all of 30 minutes.

All I had to do was put the DVD in an boot from that, then install the drivers.
