In the path of the storm ... hope you're okay, memphismom!

We’re all watching the weather here as we prepare to get hammered during the night, memphismom, but I’ve been hearing reports of the storms that have passed through Memphis and hope you are faring well. Batten down the hatches and stay safe! Some of the pictures I’ve seen were pretty scary … especially one of a funnel cloud hovering above Rhodes College Library.

that is so sweet…my dh is still at the hospital operating but the ORs are underground.
the poor dog is NOT getting her walk at this time. knock on wood-tone computer desk, we do live in a relatively safe area.

I hope if you have a Rhodes student he/she is comfortable…the taking refuge in the inner hallway has been getting old (and tomorrow is forecast to be the same…)

My daughter is at Rhodes, and she texted me a link to the picture. And according to her, at that moment neither the campus nor the Memphis tornado sirens were going off. Apparently the campus is fine, though.

I spent way too much time watching the weather earlier…the sirens were going off when there didn’t seem to be any nearby danger…they aren’t going off now.

got my haircut today and my hairdresser & I joked about what to wear to bed when you may be showing up on the news in those clothes…

Just in case anyone wants to see the picture. Taken by a student, from what I understand. The building is the library.

I’m glad you’re safe, memphismom, and I’m glad your daughter is safe at Rhodes, amesie. My DD sent me a link to that picture earlier and I’m amazed the sirens didn’t go off during that time. The weather forecasters sure have been talking up this storm. We just gave our dog some Dramamine so that we can get some sleep tonight. Stay safe!

I wish all these storms would go away! Unfortunately somebody was telling me today this whole cycle of such is supposed to continue until the middle of May!

That’s a wild picture. Looks likes something out of Harry Potter.
Stay safe.

Apparently the weather has improved from tornadoes to hail.

Another Rhodes parent here. DD says taking cover is getting old!

In addition, my elderly parents live two hours west of Memphis. The sirens went off twice last night. No real damage, but lots of flooding. (They lost all their trees in the Mother’s Day weekend tornado about three years ago.)

I’m over the rain and tornado sirens. I think the storms have all passed us now. It’s just flood warnings we’re dealing with now. Sunday will be the one year anniversary of the big flood we had last year. Fingers crossed we don’t ever have to see anything like that again.

My mom and stepdad live in Huntsville AL. They had tornados all afternoon and evening yesterday. Huntsville lost power, possibly for as much as a week. My stepdad is disabled and they have an elevator in the house to get him up and down the stairs as bedroom and bath are upstairs. I don’t know what they’re going to do without access to the elevator this week! I feel so helpless living so far away.
