in virginia - looking for schools with a studious environment

Basically, I’m a kid with no life who just really would like to go to class, go back to my dorm, study & relax. I’m not really into big urban campuses like vcu/gmu, but w&m is a bit of a reach school for me. It’s definitely my goal but I don’t think I will get in if I’m being honest with myself. I’m a virginia community college student with a 3.8 gpa. UVA and WM are good schools but unrealistic, so keep that in mind. I want to go to somewhere with a smart, mature student body.

It sounds negative when I say it out loud but I’m looking for a boring campus with a focus on academics.

Do you have a budget?

The University of Mary Washington may be worth considering.

My sister/niece love Virginia Tech. There’s something for everyone there - and a relatively mature, focused student body.

Christopher Newport University would be my pick for sure.

Virginia Tech seems like its a good fit for you. Those who don’t get accepted into either UVA or W&M tend to go to Tech! Tech has a very strong academic program, especially if you’re thinking about doing Engineering. Good luck!

3.8 in a VA community college makes W&M within reach. VTech is good for many fields and most students are “studious”.

Are you working under a Guaranteed Transfer Agreement? If not, RUN, don’t walk to talk with your counselor. Your GPA certainly puts W&M (if you really like that school) within reach if you’re taking the right classes.
