<p>Years ago, UVA used to accept only the best and brightest out-of-state students, and accepted a ton of in-staters. Apparently, the in-staters then felt outgunned by their non-VA peers, so UVA changed their policies - accepting more out-of-state types and making it the school for the bright in-state kids. </p>
<p>I’ve heard that it’s very difficult to get in from out-of-state if you require financial aid.</p>
