Inappropriate administration behavior

Yes it’s important to respect everyones sexual identity but when that identity turns deviant and goes against the moral values of the majority is it my duty to bring this person to the attention of the university?

No.

You might consider bringing someone to the attention of the right authorities if this person were breaking the law (like an adult having sex with a child) but your post doesn’t indicate that.

Does this “deviant behavior” directly involve students or other members of the University community in a negative manner? Does it impair the person’s ability to do their job? What is the inappropriate behavior? Does it violate any published code of conduct? Is it illegal? If the answer to all of these questions is no, you should back off. It is not your duty to pass judgement or to pass along rumors.

The problem with your post is the phrase “against the moral values of the majority.” There’s no crime in having different moral values. Your post is far too vague. What exactly are you talking about here? Why on earth would you even consider reporting someone whose values, in your opinion, fit that description? Are you in fact talking about illegal behavior? If it’s illegal, that’s a different post. You can’t report anyone who has different moral values to you.

The title of the post also makes it sound as if it is the school administration that is engaging in this allegedly “deviant” behavior, but the wording of the post makes it sound as if it’s a student. As noted above, if the alleged behavior or activity is illegal (e.g., child porn, selling drugs, hazing), report it to the appropriate authorities. If it is what you personally believe to be immoral, such as same sex activity, turn the other cheek as it’s not your business.

Illegal activity needs to be reported. Is the behavior illegal? Does it go against a code of conduct?

If the behavior goes against your moral values, that’s your issue and you can choose to ignore it. You can’t report somebody with different values than you.

We really don’t know what you are talking about, to be honest.

The only “moral duty” is to be more open minded.

Nobody can really say you should be more open minded. The trouble for responders is that you have not given enough information. Try again.

The OP didn’t say any behavior was illegal, just “against the moral values of the majority”. Puleeze.

MODERATOR’S NOTE: I don’t think this thread will do anybody any good. Closing.
