<p>My understanding is that the central dreamer (is this what they refer to as the subject?) populates the environment with people, called projections. They behave as they normally would in the real world (as per the dreamer’s concepts of them) unless they sense a foreign entry, in which case they act to defend the dreamer’s mind. The sharers of the dream can also produce projections, but these attract attention.</p>

<p>Yes, limbo exists outside anyone’s mind. Fischer is the subject during all of the dream levels. </p>
