Income increase - Is increase in net price sliding or bracketed?

Hi again,

Thinking about the idea of earning more money to help pay for next year’s college.

Experimenting with the net price calculator, and I tried adding incremental amounts to my earnings.
I was so surprised that I could add 3, 4, 5,6, or 7 K, and the net price stayed the same at 21K. When I added
8 k to earnings, the net price increased by 7 K!!! Then I tried adding a lot more, even 20 K more, and it stayed the same.

So someone could be at a point where adding 1 K of income leads to a 7K increase in net price.
Can this be right?

Thanks

It can, yes. But bear in mind that these NPCs are relatively new and I would not be surprised if there are some unfound bugs in them. Posters have reported some things that were clearly errors. But yes, some aid has cutoffs and yet the give a minimum amount Say there is an award for those who are under a certain income and the increments are in $10K. Yes, you lose the money, all of it, the instant you reach that point. I’ve seen it with aid for those who are PELL eligible. The jump on the PELL itself is not so big, but then you could lose other awards that a state or a school also has for those who are PELL eligible. So maybe a few hundred loss of PELL but thousands in funds also available to those PELL eligible.

Some NPC don’t even let you enter the exact number but just a range from a pull down menu.
