Incoming Freshmen McCormick kids- EDC1 pilot program?

So I got this email yesterday, and will probably answer it tonight.

<<northwestern is=“” piloting=“” a=“” new=“” first-year=“” experience=“” program=“” this=“” next=“” fall=“” and=“” we=“” would=“” like=“” to=“” know=“” if=“” you=“” are=“” interested=“” in=“” being=“” considered=“” for=“” participation=“” small=“” pilot.=“” what=“” mean=“” that=“” take=“” the=“” first=“” quarter=“” of=“” engineering=“” design=“” communications=“” (edc1)=“” as=“” part=“” special=“” section.=“” live=“” same=“” dorm=“” your=“” fellow=“” classmates=“” edc1,=“” elder=“” hall=“” on=“” north=“” end=“” campus.=“” will=“” have=“” an=“” opportunity=“” meet=“” informally=“” with=“” edc1=“” faculty=“” members=“” outside=“” class=“” periodically=“” over=“” meals=“” elder.=“” some=“” sections=“” may=“” be=“” held=“” it=“” appropriate=“” do=“” so.=“”>></northwestern>

I at first wanted to go to South Campus, and that’s pretty much what hinders me from saying immediate yes- i wanted south campus for diverse ppl, evanston, and better dining hall rep
but this doesnt sound too bad at all.

what are your two cents?
are you guys interested?

Yea I got that email. My priority is still to get into Slivka, so I figure I’ll request them to tell me early if I got into Slivka, and if I haven’t, I’ll be their guinea pig.

Yeah I got the same email too. I don’t think I’m going to do the program. I wanted to live in Ayers CCI.

How about someone updating about this new EDC1 pilot program.

What are they testing or trying to do different with this program?

They are just testing if it’s okay for kids to start doing real projects for real clients without any EA under their belt. Maybe they want to see if they can offer ED1 in fall/winter and ED2 in winter/spring instead of ED1 only in winter and ED2 only in spring. People would then have a little more flexibility.

Are all of you who got this email ED admitted or are you waiting to hear about RD?

This email came out last summer to students in the Class of 2012.
