Incorrect SAT Score

@runningpop - Thank you, that is very reassuring information.

@RainbowRed No problem. Hahah you should see one of my friend’s essays. The topic was is reality tv harmful to society and he wrote about two women who were iconic in the civil rights movement. He got an 11.

Really? hahaahah, what did you friend get?

I wrote two nicely rounded examples. Got a 7…

I don’t know if this is your first SATs, but I will say I felt similarly when I first took the test. I felt the heat that day but when I left I felt a 800 W and 700+ in math, asi usually got. Well, I got a 700 (7 essay) and 620 math. Not exactly what I expected.for the first time your test can sometimes be a doozy, you don’t expect the pressure and don’t really know the feeling of “doing well” on the first time…

I suppose :P. However, I swear its wrong!

So what can we do at this point? I honestly feel like my CR should have been higher .-.

wait for the score report. I think the biggest problem is the machine reading the answers wrong i.e if u rubbed out a circle but didn’t do it well enough. Hand scoring may help verify your score.

Don’t they rescore your essay too if they do hand scoring?

I’m a bit confused. On the CB website, it says that if one orders QAS, you cannot have it hand-scored, and vice versa. But if I find a mistake on my QAS, then how do I have it rescored? And no, you have to pay separately for both to be rescored.

Where did you see the number of incorrect answers? CB does not release this fact until October 30.

I just want to remind people that the odds are against them. I suggest that people wait until October 30 to see a more detailed score report.

No, it does not say that. What it does say is that if you order hand scoring, the QAS will no longer be available to you. Period. The inverse is not the case. So, if you want both, order QAS first, wait until you receive it, and then order hand scoring.

If you’re a senior waiting for results, however, and you still think there’s a problem after seeing your report on Tuesday, then it’s probably not a good idea to delay that long.

What I’ve just discovered about hand scoring the essay is interesting, too. Apparently the essay scores are recorded on some kind of form that is machine-read - just like the multiple choice answer sheets. So, when CB rescores the essay, they don’t actually re-read it. What they do is look at the score sheet to make sure it wasn’t misread by the machine.

This could explain a rash of really low essay scores. It doesn’t mean the readers have all lost their minds . . . it means the machine reading the score sheets went on the fritz.

Okay, thanks. Guess I just misinterpreted that. I’ve already order QAS, and should hopefully get it before I send in all of my apps.

I have exactly the same issue.
I checked my writing answers several times on the official writing thread on CC,
and I found out I got nothing wrong on section 10, and I missed only 5-ish on the other section of the test. and I got 56 on multiple choice… from 80… -21 wrong, including the penalties.
AND most importantly, I missed almost 4-5 math questions and i got 710…
which, given the curve, is impossible.
Looking at my writing AND math score, I am 99% sure Collegeboard did it again…
incorrect grading… a

IMO, that math seems accurate. I (probably) missed one (stupid error) and got a 770, so I think that section was just overly harsh this time. But everyone seems to be doing badly with writing.

my writing is also exceptionally bad and i get 640 :frowning:
i keep missing 4 MC at most and i have 66/80 in terms of MC
i don’t know what on earth it is happening.

I highly doubt that there is an error. Since the 2006 problem with College Board’s scoring, they have gotten much better at ensuring proper scoring. I hate to break it to everyone, especially considering my scores were 150 points lower than usual…but it is most likely the curve that screwed everyone over, not the CB.

Got 1 omitted apparently on math, but I do not recall omitting a single problem…

will wait to see Q&S to verify if I did not or did…then score verify probs

My score seems about right, unfortunately. I probably would’ve ordered score verification if I missed any “easy” questions on writing, but it seems that I only missed medium/difficult questions on that section. Darn. On math, too, the majority of questions that I missed were from “Geometry and Measurement”, which is my weak point. :frowning: I guess I’ll just have to stick with my crappy score. Tough curve this time, which kinda sucks because I’m a senior and am now done with the SAT.

How does the curve work and does it vary for different test dates?
