Increase in Support

I am a single mom of two in college and am seriously thinking of going back to court for more support. I also am concerned what impact that will have on my children’s financial aid. Previously I had three in college and they all got merit aid as well as some grants (they also took out Stafford loans). Will getting more money reduce that aid, and if so, by how much?

You can print out the FAFSA EFC formula and run your numbers through it to see how increased child support might change your situation: http://studentaid.ed.gov/sites/default/files/2012-13-efc-forumula.pdf</a>

However, if your children are attending colleges where financial aid is not determined solely by the FAFSA, you would be better off speaking directly with the financial aid officers at their colleges to find out what will change if you get $X more in support each year.
