Independent Study

I’m very interested in art, mainly photography, but for this year (Junior), my art teachers encouraged me to learn how to draw. The Drawing & Painting class didn’t fit into my schedule and so my teacher said I could do an Independent Study, which I am currently taking. I am doing exactly the same stuff as the D&P class.

At my school, an Independent Study is only Pass/Fail…so I was wondering how colleges would view this? (I am obviously passing). I don’t think I’m going to major in art but it will definitely be a part of whatever I end up doing, and I’ll probably submit an art supplement, if possible, with my application.

Thanks!

bumppppp help!

Anyone???

yvettec, I think that colleges would like to hear about who you are. If you can “artfully” tell them about your relationship with your art(s) & how it is evolving, I am pretty sure they would be excited to read it. Tune in to what inspires you about it & write it well. (Sometimes this might be a small part of the application, such as one of the “short answer questions.”) I wouldn’t worry at all about the grade, as long as you are getting good grades in your other classes.
