India Class of 2015 Results Thread (RD)

So the more i seem to look at decision threads the more i seem to find that Sat scores are insignificant after a certain point. Did you have like significant achievements in Science or some amazing science related Extracurriculars?

Thanks guys. But I’d rather know the result now! A waitlist is so cruel. Especially since mostly things don’t work out on w/l.
And Ani, my knowing that I’m a good applicant is hardly going to help me right? Thanks for saying that though.:)

Violater: You’re right, SAT scores are hardly important for an Indian applicant. One needs more to distinguish oneself. Once you’re above a 2200 or so, it doesn’t really matter.
(I’m saying this dispassionately only because I’m not thinking of my score. When I think of my 2230, I still go eeww. )

^ arre yaar forget SAT scores. I did not get an acceptance notification from what I thought was a safety so now my confidence is shot. :(

OMG stop being so conceited.

^ Me? Why am I being conceited? I thought it would be safe for me because I know people with lower grades and everything get in from my school.

Oh no, sorry Putturani, not you! I was just kidding around with Pixie.

Pulling her leg when she said this:

And Ani, my knowing that I’m a good applicant

:p

Which college = safety btw?

Hahaha oh ok. :stuck_out_tongue: I won’t mention it’s name until I get a definite answer, afraid of jinxing it! Sorry, I’m kind of superstitious. Haha oh well. Pixie - Wellesley decisions in a couple of hours!

@Violator: Not sure about how important the SAT was though I heard that Caltech does seem to prefer rounded students? I did participate in a lot of sports and was a pretty rounded student. I did do some academic stuff but nothing to the level of intl Olympiads. I could argue that I didnt qualify for participation but to be honest it requires a lot of hard work and dedication to reach that level and it wouldve been a long shot for me. What i really think you need to do for a place like Caltech is to show your passion for science and math through your essay. While im sure a lot of people are sick of hearing this, essays are important :frowning: Yeah and come to think of it, I dont think Caltech cares too much for SAT I scores anyway…

^ I heard that Caltech, unlike MIT, places a lot of emphasis on SAT scores.
But anyway, you’re an admit, you might know better.

Hey compscifan, its nothing like that. Just cause i got in doesnt mean I know the criteria used. Im just as clueless as everyone else. US admissions unlike UK are a lot more subjective I guess making it impossible to so called “chance” people because to the Americans there is no ideal student, just an interesting one  What places are you applying to?

BTW, congratulations mysticgohan for both the acceptances. :)

Hey you guys!..im from pune!.
i have only gotten into Rutgers and Albright so far. Got rejected from an accelerated medical program from RPI. Waiting for Colgate now.
Anyone else in for pre med?..:)

Thanks so much itsmylife! Yeah but I still got lots more to go so I got my fingers crossed. Funny Caltech was always my first choice but im beginning to have doubts now. Not sure if i should go there or go to Cambridge which i think will be a lot easier haha. Where are you applying?

Yess, premed here!

Did you apply to any other BS/MDs?

hell no…i thought i would get into RPI! but I didnt and thank god i didnt!!..
I have applied to Miami University and still not got anything back from them, Brown,Johns Hopkins and Columbia are my flukes!..
I have a decent application but I am really scared. Colgate is my dream school!
Wbu?

Ohh! Nice  I qualified for interviews for Northwestern’s BA/MD and University of Miami’s BS/MD, which means I’ve been accepted to both their regular undergrads. I’ve also been accepted to the SLU Medical Scholars Program! I’ve been rejected from Penn State’s and Pitt’s BS/MD programs though. Besides those, I’ve applied to a few Ivies and the likes.

My first choice is the Northwestern HPME. And second choice is UMiami HPM. Both the univs. release their decisions for the programs in a few days! Can’t wait. Goodluck!

Rejected, Wellesley. And the nightmare begins…

Anyone else get in? Arunemo, desperado?

Waitlisted Wellesley. I feel the pain.

^ Same here… I hate THIS business…
