Indian Education vs American Education

I am an American Resident but with Indian Education.
Indian education is quite tough and obviously much tougher than American Educ. I got 75% in 11th grade which is quite good when seen w.r.t India but nothing when seen in picture with America.(Their AP exams are nothing as compared to our final terms)

Will universities consider this factor for me. If i change my % to 4point GPA i should technically get a 3.9+ with my marks but the online converters just show 3.68 ± .05 which is nothing if i want to get into Georgia Tech.

bump bump bumpty bump

Online converters are not reliable in the least. I would say that your best bet is to CALL Georgia Tech and explain this to the Undergrad Office of Admissions. Ask to be transferred to the International Student Services Office- they should be able to help you out. Good luck!

cant do that as i need aid and GA Tech doesn’t give much to internationals and moreover the competition is just killing there. i

Your COUNSELOR or head teacher or master teacher will need to explain the value of the numbers. A 75 in the Indian year 11 boards is like a 4.3 GPA in the US, but not if you convert numerically. So, your counselor will need to explain what percentage, nationally, get to a 75, 70, 65, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20 (ie top 5% get 70, top 10% get 65, etc); what percentage of students get these marks in your school and how that correlates to the national exam (ie, a 70 at your school is a 70 on the national exams, a 70 at your school is a 73 on the national exams, a 70 at your school is a 65 on the national exams, etc.)

if you’re an American who lives in India, your application will be considered along with Indian applicants for the admission review, but with Americans for financial aid.

You should apply to a wide variety of schools (GTech, VA Tech, Colorado school of Mines, etc.)

A 75 in 11th class is quite good actually.Class 11 exams are made to test a childs genius, basically to let the teachers know who are genius, above average etc. and since teachers only make the paper, they make it very tough so as to make the student study and get them in the habit of studying almost everyday for at least 4-6 hours(thats India).

We get national exams only in grade 12 and my teachers have written in the expected grade column all A1s which is true and i can actually attain those grades.

G Tech is my priority college and already applied in EA, i think i am a competitive candidate, for more info on my portfolio, please visit my chance thread in Georgia techs page on college confidential.
