plzzz lemme know too abt CET…i wanna try for bangalore…so plzz lemme know…is CET worth giving???

A lot of ppl have been using the expression “give a test”.

Isn’t it supposed to be “take a test” ?

This has always confused me. In hindi, “exam dete hain” but in english, we “take a test”

wow merc you actually care :p

but agar mein sat ii writing de raha hota, i’d have gone with take a test

We take a test (atleast according to Mr 650 in SAT II Writing here :))

Sorry for turning this into a CBSE thread  but:
From where should I practice Math?? My school pre boards are ****ed up, its sooo darn hard compared to CBSE board exam, so where do you guys suggest I practice from. I’ve already covered the text book Solved examples and Miscellaneous.

Any ideas ;)

Together with Mathematics, if you get that there

does it have loads of difficult problems?

just do together man! it has the whole gamut

if you want difficult, R.D. Sharma i suppose

oh and i got an interview for yale. gotta fix up the time and stuff tho.

good luck for the interview!!

And try R.S. Aggarwal (if you’re not using that already). He’s sort of an authority for CBSE math.

don’t worry no one will ■■■■■ about it (except maybe akash… but thats fine)

Hey ppl

1) Astrix, it doesnt snow here unfortunately. I live in a desert where the summer temperatures are high enough to boil eggs if you keep them outside ( for serious). Dry heat at its best !!!

2) Ya in India, everyone says give tests and i used it here for a month until too people’ s wierd looks make me change it to " take the test". I also got to know asking a person how was the test means you have not taken it, WIERD. ( you are supposed to say how did you do in the test?)

3) According to me and my friends in amity, RD Aggarwal and together were the best books for math till class 10. 11 and 12 is pure RS aggarwal for CBSE. ( A person i know used RS and got 98 in the cbse math).

oh btw congrats to SP ! I got acceptances to university of arizona and arizona state ( awesum basket ball and foot ball teams ) if they count.

acceptances tally:

adides: u chicago, georgetown, uiuc
ritz: harvard
gandalf: williams
nomad: u arizona, arizona state
lildude_ravi: uiuc and another school
SP (as he shall be known henceforth): university of york (UK)

i probably missed someone or some school so feel free to correct

it’s raining where i’m at. i like.

I also like rain!!! n its raining here… I m jus loving it!!! :)

adides: u chicago, georgetown, uiuc
ritz: harvard
gandalf: williams
nomad: u arizona, arizona state
ravi: uiuc, gatech, purdue, osu
SP (as he shall be known henceforth): university of york (UK)

And I agree with shikhar abt together with math if u need practice…
If you want good solved hard problems, then go with RD Sharma…

1) I go to a local shop at 7 in the evening. The sky is clear. I come out at 7:05, and it’s raining. I look up and I can see stars + moon + sparse clouds. :-/

2) It’s amazing how so many ppl got in at so many GREAT places! But I’m confused about how they did, I mean you certainly can’t apply EA/ED to more than one school. Do all these schools have rolling admissions? I know UIUC does but others (purdue, georgia, arizona, georgetown, chicago???)

3) Yes, Indian English is weird. Too bad it’s not an ‘official’ dialect of english like american or australian.

same here!

merc : Purdue has rolling admissions… n GaTech although they dont have rollin admissions “officially”, but if you apply by october, then you can expect a decision by december/january

Glad to know my format is being followed :)

more good news for me…my Pton interview is set up for some time next week!

just my two pence…

hello: I don’t think solving loads of difficult problems is not going to help you for the board exam - the board has a few fixed sums which it keeps varying a little bit every year; I think solving sample papers will be the best thing to do

your school probably selects the toughest problems for your preboards-I would suggest not worrying too much about the preboards and concentrating on the problems the board likes.

of the other books, I think “together” would be most helpful…

so with your luck SP, you’re going to blow the interviewer off his ( I’m assuming the his) feet with an extraordinary combination of charm, wit and undiluted genius and get an auto admit sign stamped on your app hehe :D. All the best anyway. So when is it?
