PPP!! i want PPP! blah

why, are you using SLIP now or what?

i meant purchasing power parity
but thats okkk im the cryptic guy, yeah?

countries can determine their own exchange rates- thru the world bank. india deliberately chooses to keep it so low

for reasons best known to the babu’s

i was plannin on visiting Swat on wednesday- but i guess thats useless now):

a higher valued currency is an advantage w.r.t imports- UK practically survives on imports. therefore 1 pound = roughly 80 rupeess

its supposed to help exports. blah. we gotta rationalize sometime!

UK survives on imports, but india cant afford importing stuff, and you cant really set your own exchange rate - you can just control it - a nudge hear, a push there -that sort of thing. Its more of a representative of the global demand for the rupee, and the number of rupees that are available on the open market. The RBI gets to manipulate the exchange rate since they can control the number of rupees available.
India prefers to keep a low exchange rate beccause- notwithstanding all the crap which the govt tells us - we are currently riding the outsourcing wave. This is fueled by the fact that an american company can spend a single dollar to pay 45 rupees to an indian employee. Coupled with a generally low labour cost, that makes india an attractive destination for outsourcing.

PS: I just put that together based on what i learn from newspapers. I dont study economics, so i may be way off

OK, i have to ask. How do you get that entire flotilla of smileys???

hey Divraj, sorry to burst your bubble but have you been to lehigh and spent a day there ? Wel i have and I just told you what I saw and waht other intels/ studious people (nerds who have ec’s) ( a significant minority ) told me.

THERE IS A REASON THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING THERE AIN’t IT?
( save the bs that you may, or if you do let me knw how it is after 3 months)

I am open to arguments on this matter…

anyways thanks for the welcs guys!

best of luck for the decisions everyone! :)

k then why did u apply ther nomad bro for fun , i would have gone ther if i hadnt got into someplace better

outsourcing wave?
i realy dont think it’s that big- the press has over hyped the whole thing.
besides- the people working in call centres rite now are engineering graduates! this cant be a good sign. engineers doing jobs that even someone who passed their 12th boards can do.

our imports by farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr outstretch our measly exports.

it just harrows me that i have to pay everythingx50 over here!!!
even the chinese yuan is only 1$=12 yuan or someting like that

btw, i have a friend at Lehigh, and he isnt too happy there. what he tells me is pretty much what nomad said.

are the williams decisons out?anyone got the email?

because my friend Lehigh offered me a combination that few others could offer me - a school with atleast some reputation in engineering and which offered financial aid to international students. I know it sounds sad but oh well I do need a lot of financial aid.

Guess what I am in no way belittling your achievement. My complaints is against the school itself and how it is run not its admission policy which I believe is fair and on par with other excellent colleges. Getting into lehigh is a big achievement congrats!

outsourcing is boring. we need a indian company that will wake up AOL, Microsoft or apple?

hmmmmmm…I am bored :(

me too :(

Joke No 2: Re IT Letter to Technical Support

Dear (IT) Technical Support,

I am desperate for some help.
I recently upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 and found that the new program began unexpected child processing and also took up a lot of space and valuable resources.

This wasn’t mentioned in the product brochure.

In addition Wife 1.0 installs itself into all
other programs and launches during system
initialisation where it monitors all other system
activity.

Applications such as Boys Night Out 2.5,and Golf 5.3 no longer run and crash the system whenever selected.
Attempting to operate Saturday Rugby 6.3 always fails but Saturday Shopping 7.1 runs instead.

I cannot seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background whilst attempting to run any of my favorite applications. I am thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0 but uninstall doesn’t work on this program.

Can you please help?

Joe

Reply from Technical Support

Dear Joe,
this is a very common problem resulting
from a basic misunderstanding. Many men upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 thinking that Wife 1.0 is merely a UTILITIES & ENTERTAINMENT program.
Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM designed by its creator to run everything.

You are unlikely to be able to purge Wife 1.0 and still convert back to Girlfriend 7.0 as Wife 1.0 is not designed to do this and it is impossible to uninstall, delete or purge the program files from the system once installed. Some people have tried to install Girlfriend 8.0 or Wife 2.0 but have ended up with even more problems. (See in manual under
allimony /Child Support and Solicitors Fees).

Having Wife 1.0 installed myself, I recommend you keep it installed and deal with the difficulties as best you can. When any faults or problems occur, whatever you think has caused them, you must run the C:\I APOLOGISE program and avoid attempting to use the *Esc-key. It may be necessary to run C:\I APOLOGISE a number of times but hopefully, eventually the operating system will return to normal.

Wife 1.0 although is a very high maintenance program, it can be very rewarding. To get the most out of it consider buying additional software such as Flowers 2.0 and Chocolates 5.0. Do not under any circumstances

install Secretary (Short Skirt version)as this is
not a supported application for Wife 1.0 and the system will almost certainly crash.

Regards,

Have a nice day
