Good luck for JEE. the answer to question 5 is option a). REMEMBER, option b)…wait i said a).

good luck guys…

Ok sorry for the late reply ( was sleeping !) Flamethrower but the thing is the way Terri Shiavo died was indeed ( albeit an indirect one) through euthansia.

Nothing medical in AMerica is cheap. I had a biopsy test taken ( minor skin test ) and it cost me 250 dollars for one day. Consultation for 60 dollars or more average. Now multiply that by 365*8 + future costs, i dont think the expenses look pretty. And feeding tube is not the only thing which figures in costs here, hospital maintenance, medicing and the personal nurse charge as well.

And in case you were wondering, Terri Shiavo died a painless death. This was because the brain cells connected that part of the brain had been already destroyed and hence she couldn’t feel it. Her lack of restlessness also shows this. AND they didnt kill her with a legal injection or some other form of immediate death because that is illegal in Florida

and i am done rambling for now:)

best of luck merc, shash

Personally, if I was in place of Terri Schiavo, i would agree with euthansia (even if i were to suffer some pain) so that my family can get on with their lives. So in that way, taking a very personal view, i agree with euthansia

BUT, when it comes to ethics, religion and human discretion - sometimes i wonder about where we draw the line. with the cloning, euthansia, etc. i wonder if we are trying to step across the line - where we’ve started creating and destroying life (and called it the ‘right’ thing to do)

again, on the flip side…i agree with nomad…the sheer cost…there might be thousands of cases like schiavo in India, where either the patient did not get medical treatment or could not afford five years of hospital bills…

i dont know if many of you have read malthus’ theory…but as he mentioned in his essay in the 1700s…"the world runs on an equilibrium, which is of profound importance for continued existence. When and if, humans ever starts behaving in a manner, where they believes that the world belongs to them, where they feel that they can control life and death…the equilibrium will be broken and so will be subsistability of this universe, as we know it.”

oh btw - if any1 likes to read theology, philosophy, history, mystery etc. - try to read “finger prints of god” by graham hancock…very very thought provoking…

yawn

thanks for the wishes… now i got to bed… so early for the first time in a year. good night guys. and btw, breaking news - sucharita got a xanga… :stuck_out_tongue: i wont post the link else she’ll lash out at me  but its funny as hell… lol sucharita aunty writing blog entries :D

good night.

i dont know if there is any cause-effect relationship…but i wonder if getting into a top school tends to decrease the # of cc posting for a person???

you look at such (after april4), ritz, laila…they dont post on cc as much…hmmm…

well there’s gotta be some time you move on?! ha i sure hope so. i don’t want to be stuck on here forever!! :stuck_out_tongue: yeah ok prolly till december this year when my early decision is out. so excited. haha. i was actually excited for RD’s at one point of time. they turned out very nice, as you all know. i just like hearing from places i guess.

merc such’s blog wasn’t so hard to find, thanks for the tip off!

astrix so did you find out if you could apply RD to any place if you are already enrolled in a colege or not?

ok-Let me emphasizer this again

U DEFINITELY CAN ENROLL IN A COLLEGE THIS YEAR AND APPLY AGAIN THIS YEAR

atleast for Princeton,Brown,Duke ,Columbia…

And Adides the line you talk about was created by noone else but mankind itself. Hence there would never be a case when something related to ethics would be considered good/bad by everyone. Its what we perceive ourself ( without bias) is important.

blah atleast i know i have learnt something from my Theory of knowledge class in IB.

Alright Thanks Akash

interesting

Although I’m late :

GOOD LUCK FOR JEE

Yay. Finished the screening.

I hope I get through.

I hate it when they make the paper easy. It takes away my advantage and gives it to te nerdy moron who remembers every little formula.

How i hate my life. Good thing im not suicidal.

The Screening - A mildly momentous occasion ive prepared for for 5 long years (or semi prepared fo it, rather) and i end up spending 3 hours bored to death and at the same time racking my non-cooperative brain for those damn formulae
