~Ritz:
“pv…is there any way that I can contribute to it(Oxygen) ?”

========================================

Dear Ritz,

There is always at least a way, if not many ways, in which you can contribute to anything.

I assume that you are from/at Bombay. Many a times I have read about sweatshops in Mumbai. Today also I read about children between the ages 8-18 being forced to work for 20 hours in closed rooms without any vents and light, except for the tubelights that is supposed to keep them awake. Then, there are girls who are forced to sell themselves on the streets of Bombay to make a square meal for them and their family. Has BMC ever bothered to raise such issues in public?

To make a difference, you do not have to join any group on the other end of the country who are already doing well on their own. To make a difference, you can start from your door step, your street and your city/town. There are eyes looking upto you for your help, there are ears waiting onto you for your kindness, and there are hearts waiting for someone like you to give them hope and courage.

I believe that you are the girl who got accepted to Harvard. If so, with the power of education that Harvard may gift you, you will have many choices for making a positive impact on the lives of many, but for whom life today is just a mere existence. But then choices sometimes come at the bigger price of sacrifices: jobs and career opportunities that will open up for you once you graduate from Harvard that may promise high salaries and perks. Your choice will have the power to give hope and courage to those who have none. Your choice will have the power to deny hope and courage to those who have none. Yes Ritz, you will have the power. But Ritz, with power comes responsibility. And Ritz, responsibilty must be handled with care. If handled with care and responsibility, the power will grow evermore, and together with it someone else will get a choice of his/her own. And for him/her, it might be a choice of life.

Finally Ritz, there’s a lot you can do. Just let me know when you feel the need for a lieutenant and I will be on your side. I assure you unconditionally, though we have never met or do know each other.

FYI :
I had been involved with some children’s and women’s rights groups and organisations in Kerala. I understand that you too have an inclination towards womens rights and issues. Maybe, we can learn something from each other. What do you say?
